On Saturday, November 14, a Kindness Chain will start at The Evergreen Design Center, 27945 Meadow Drive. All afternoon, people will add links to it. At 4 p.m. a group will pick it up and walk it down Main Street. The downtown shops and galleries open their late hours at that same minute.
One event ends as the other begins, and both point to the same walk. That makes the busiest Saturday on Evergreen's November calendar one afternoon on foot, starting on Meadow Drive and finishing in the historic downtown. Everything else that weekend can be planned around that 4 p.m. walk.
The Evergreen Creative District presents Mountain of Thanks, a free festival it calls "a festival of creative giving." It runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Design Center. Second Saturdays in Downtown Evergreen runs from 4 to 7 p.m. that day under a "Thankful Art Walk" theme.
Both organizers describe the handoff. The festival site invites people to join the Kindness Chain group and "walk to downtown Main Street, where the retailers and restaurants are ready with discounts and tastings." The Downtown Evergreen event page asks people to "take part in the Kindness Chain from the Mountain of Thanks event at Meadow Drive all the way down Main Street!" The Evergreen Downtown Business Association promotes downtown businesses and organizes its special events.
So 4 p.m. matters most when you plan the day. Arrive at the Design Center in the early afternoon and you can add a link, catch part of the stage program and walk downtown with the chain. Skip Meadow Drive and you can still meet the walk on Main Street as the evening starts.
According to its organizers, everything at Mountain of Thanks is free. That includes the stage, the tables and tent spaces, and participation itself. The program comes from the community, and the organizers built several ways to join in:
The festival's tagline is "Bring what you have. Take what you need. Share what you love." Its site already lists a Gratitude Tree as "Coming in 2027." The Evergreen Creative District describes itself as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
The festival's Meadow Drive neighbor is a giving operation too. The EAPL Thrift Shop at 27888 Meadow Drive is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and its proceeds support animals rescued by the Evergreen Animal Protective League. The Chamber calendar lists an EAPL Thrift Shop Open House with Photos with Santa that same day. The time on that listing reads 12 p.m. to 12 p.m., which looks like a placeholder, and the listing sends readers to EAPL's website for details. EAPL's own calendar shows a Nov. 14 adoption event from 2 to 4 p.m. If Santa photos are on your list, check EAPL's site before you go.
The Downtown Evergreen page lists the businesses taking part in November's Second Saturday:
Aspen's Consignments, Enchanted Entomology, ChillaxOMOffering, Wild Rabbit, Sweetwater Boutique, Pixie Hair Studio, Sisters & Company, The Evergreen Gallery, Java Groove, Evergreen Clothing & Mercantile, Marmalade Jewelry, Owl Cat Gallery, Suz Cookie Jar Rescue, Seventy West, Black Provisions, Kiki's Fresh Cafe, Cactus Jacks, The Cow Eatery, Beaujos Pizza, Murphy's Mountain Grill and Bistro Del Lago.
Bingo cards are available at participating businesses. Get four squares signed, email the card in, and you have a chance to win gift cards to downtown businesses. Live music is scheduled at Revival Brews, Little Bear, Cactus Jacks, Bait Shack and other spots. The Chamber's listing shows admission as free.
One name on that list was news this fall. At the Sept. 15 Taste of Evergreen at the Evergreen Lake House, the Canyon Courier reported that some attendees who try to keep up with Evergreen's new restaurants discovered places they hadn't heard of yet, including Murphy's Mountain Grill and Evoke 1923.
The same Courier story reports that The Frame Shop Lounge opened this year in a small space in the Evergreen Brewery building, and the brewery shares in its ownership and management. Its butterscotch-like pudding with berries and pistachios won first place in the "sweet bites" category from both the judges and the popular vote. A Saturday that ends downtown after dark is a good time to try the places the Taste crowd had just found.
Plenty else is on the calendar for Nov. 14, and most of it fits around the 4 p.m. handoff. Two events don't fit as easily. Here is the day in time order:
The Gift Fair and the chorale both have Sunday dates, so you can put Saturday's afternoon into the walk and still catch both. The orchestra is the one real conflict.
Nov. 14 is the busiest day, but the giving theme runs through the whole month. The Evergreen Area Chamber of Commerce calendar for November 2026 lists these events with a community or charitable focus:
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| Saturday, Nov. 7 | Annual Winter Fundraiser for the ResqRanch |
| Sunday, Nov. 8 | Veteran's Day Celebration at the Resq Ranch |
| Sunday, Nov. 22 | Bird is the Word Community Thanksgiving Dinner |
| Thursday, Nov. 26 | 16th Annual EChO Turkey Trot 5K Run & Walk |
| Friday, Nov. 27 | Morning Birds & Brews with Evergreen Audubon & Nature Center |
Times and locations for these are on the individual Chamber listings.
At Freadhoff Home Group, we live and work in Evergreen, and we like a day built around a shared walk from Meadow Drive to Main Street. If you'd like to talk about your home over coffee downtown on a Second Saturday, or anytime this season, reach out and request a free home valuation.
