Conifer is an unincorporated community off U.S. Route 285. Conifer is one of the closest mountain communities to Denver, Colorado, as it’s a little over 15 miles to West Denver. Like its other mountain community counterparts, Conifer is known for its amazing mountain views, access to the canyons and meadows, and wooded hills. This community is a serene getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, as well as the air, light, and noise pollution.

Conifer sits at an elevation of 8,277 feet, making it the perfect destination for rock climbing, snowshoeing, sledding, and just about any outdoor activities you can think of. Conifer is a popular stop for hiking, camping, and connecting back to mother nature. There is a great deal of different locations residents and visitors can visit when they feel like getting out into the mountains and getting some fresh air. The options are limitless.

You can be sure you’re supporting your neighbors and community when you’re shopping locally. You’ll become acquainted with the wildlife in the community, such as elk, black bear, deer and turkeys. You may even spot a mountain lion up in the hills.

The restaurants in Conifer are worth stopping in. Scooter’s Smokehouse BBQ earned a reputation as one of the best BBQ joints along U.S. 285 and with good reason. With over 40 plus years of experience, Scooter’s sticks to old southern BBQ traditions. You could throw a dart at the menu and still end up with something mouth-watering. Scooter’s offers meals like their pulled pork sandwich, sliced brisket, ribs, and smoked chicken.

If barbeque isn’t your craving, that’s okay because the culinary excellence of Conifer doesn't stop there. Brooks Tavern, Rocky Mountain Wraps, Three Margaritas and Conifer Cafe all fill with locals and tourists.
 

Things to Do


Conifer is centered around the great outdoors with places like Beaver Ranch Park,  a 450-acre open space park where the community can picnic, ride horses, and go on zipline tours. It also has a world class Frisbee Golf Course.  Stanton State Park boast over 3800 acres! And Flying J Park is perfect for horse back riding, mild hiking and mountain biking on it’s 400 plus acres. The Rainbow Roundup Trout Ranch is a beautiful and popular fishing spot. Myers Ranch Park is a favorite sledding spot for the locals.
